Violin Maker / Dealer in Atlanta (Duluth), Georgia
Welcome to my shop. I am happy to finally share with you what I have to offer to the world of violins near and far. I am grateful for advice and help afforded me through various friends in this endeavor. It is my hope that the time away from my workbench in this was well spent to be informing and helpful to many.
In this age of information, the world of violin making has been rapidly getting smaller and closer than ever before. There are more organized schools, associations, seminars, and publications. One can gather a wealth of information at his disposal very quickly. The only word of caution here is the art of violin making still requires individual artistic sense and style developed through earnest training and experience rather than all-inclusive pool of knowledge. A contemporary maker can easily be too short sighted and be distracted away from the all-important Making of instruments. A typical of such example is concentrating too much in marketing. I believe that the maturity in a luthier (maker) only comes from industrious production over a long haul with thoughtful evolution as a maker along the way. I have had a good fortune of graduating from a well respected violin making school and receiving a sure guidance from Maestro Tschu Ho Lee, a mentor and the director of Chicago School of Violin Making in Chicago, Illinois. I am also grateful for all the interactions I've had with caring string players over the years in tone adjustments as well as in repairs and restorations. They have helped me be a player-friendly maker that I am.
I hope you enjoy your visit and contact me in the near future to further our dialog concerning your needs. Although my time is devoted in making and restoring instruments, I cherish meaningful conversations with caring musicians.
